James Bessen

is the Executive Director of the Technology & Policy Research Initiative at Boston University. He is a former software entrepreneur and the author of the book «The New Goliaths: How Corporations Use Software to Dominate Industries, Kill Innovation, and Undermine Regulation» (Yale University Press, 2022), from which this essay is adapted.
